NEW STUDENT

A warm welcome to the law program, Lund and the Law Students' Union!
Congratulations to you for being accepted to a fantastic education in the country's most fun student city. It can feel both overwhelming, nervous and absolutely amazing to know that in just a few weeks a new chapter in your life will begin.

Law Students' Union (JF) is your student union, which means that we protect your interests during your studies primarily in three different ways: we monitor the legal education, so that it is up to standard and constantly improving, we give you the opportunity to meet and make contacts with potential employers, and we give you the chance to meet friends for life through our many social events such as sports activities, parties and sit-ins, parties, brunches, film screenings and much, much more.

For you as a new student, we primarily organize the traditional novice period, which begins on August 27, 2025 and ends with the Novice Party on September 20, 2025.

To be able to fully participate in the novice period and take part in Lund's student life, you must be a member of Studentlund. You can become a member from the day you receive your admission letter, and it is a good idea to do so before the novice period begins.

You can click below to find out more.
Course literature
The course literature for the different semesters and courses of the law program can sometimes be very expensive. In that case, it can be a good idea to buy used books. This is also good for the environment.

In the Facebook group "Sell/buy course literature for the semesters at the law program in Lund", which is administered by JF, you can sell and buy course literature. The members of the group are or have all been law students themselves.
At Campusbokhandeln you can also sell and buy course literature, both new and used. The physical premises are conveniently located just around the corner from Juridicum.
Accommodation
It can feel daunting trying to arrange accommodation in Lund as a new student, but there are many ways to go.

A good tip is to always make sure you are in AF Bostäder's housing queue. If you have been accepted in the first admission, you can be included in AF Bostäder's novice lottery.
It is also possible to stay at many of Lund's different nations - read more on the nations' websites and contact them if you have any questions.
BoPoolen is a secondary housing agency run by Lund University's student unions.
Report a move
If you are moving to study at a university or college, you must be registered at your place of study. The basic rule is that you must be registered where you live, that is, where you sleep most nights.

With an e-ID, you can use the Swedish Tax Agency's e-service to report your move, quickly and easily. Read more and report your move on the Swedish Tax Agency's website: www.skatteverket.se/studentflytt.
